Incredible Vintage Miss Bette Black Pleated Sculpture Toy Novelty Hat

Here is an AMAZING hat, one of a few that we acquired labeled "Miss Bette" "Wolf's Des Moines". She was an excellent milliner, (some say she reflects the Bes Ben hats) and has designed specialty hats with intricate design lines and or materials that make incredible one of a kind collectibles!

This one is GORGEOUS and is made of a complicated double pleat in a circular shape, and fitted BEAUTIFULLY onto a rich black velvet base. It also has a wing of velvet in the center top for extra attention and height! It is, like all of her hats, with a small base, only about 6.5" across, and about 18" around...it is intended, as are all her hats, to perch atop the head, or in the front, referred to as a "toy" hat; it is not intended to be pulled down over a head.

Now back again to the quality and detailing of these Miss Bette millinery hats...she puts a signature 1/2" crocheted flower with four prong faux pearl center on each of her hats! This also has her signature 1/2" lace facing edged with metalic silver zig zag ric rac trim. Absolutely gorgeous piece of work whether its being viewed from the underside, or as its being worn, and makes a truely fabulous collectible. THIS MANNEQUIN DOESN'T DO IT JUSTICE; this hat is much better on than it looks on this slippery plastic head, it is impossible to get it to sit correctly.
