Erik Hoglund is considered one of the most innovative glass designers of the 20th century.
Much of his glass, like this primitive figure, is very different from other Swedish glass design of the time. He designed at Boda from 1953 to 1973. He won the Lunning Prize for excellence in design in 1957 and taught glass design at the prestigious Pilchuck Glass Centre in the United States in 1973. He died in 1998.
Many of his pieces, like this one, are signed with the production number and "H" for Hoglund. "Boda" is also signed on the bottom.
Condition on this very rare piece is extremely fine.
