This is an unbelievably beautiful Early American Cut Glass pitcher. This is very heavy glass, beautifully cut with a floral pattern and double bands around the top which alternate with stars and octagonal grids. The flowers are cut in a pattern that closely resembles the Hughes "Cornflower". The bottom of the pitcher is cut in a rayed pattern. The very top edge is cut with notches, including a decorative notches pattern at the spout. Even the handle was decoratively cut. The bottom measures 6 inches round. The total height is 10 3/4 inches. It weighs just under 5 lbs. There are so many places where the maker of this beautiful piece could have signed it, though I haven't been able to find a maker's mark. When placed under a black light, this glows a beautiful green color. Other than shelf wear to the bottom, as you would expect to find, condition is extremely fine. It is rare to find a piece of Early American Cut Glass this beautiful and in this wonderful kind of condition. Spectacular!
