The only reason I am now selling this skirt is that I sadly cannot fit into a 24" waist - even with a corset.
That opens the door for some extremely lucky person to now own this fantastic skirt, one of a kind, with its incredible beading and corded soutache.
The skirt appears to be an Edwardian bustle or Victorian skirt, from the late 1800's. With its fine quality of mixed cotton, it was custom made for a high-quality lady of the period.
If you start at the top front, you will see an inset waist, with beautiful tailoring to accentuate the waist. In order to show off the waistline, the skirt pieces were cut into sections and re-sewn together to offer the most attractive view of the waist and hipline.
From the front, the waterfall effect of the skirt is obvious. It is clean, it is straight lines going down the front, with the focus on the waistline, the fall of the skirt and the amazing stunning embroidery that trims this dress.
From the back, the skirt shows off it's real beauty. Meant to be used with a bustle or not, the skirt construction is AMAZING. With multiple hand-sewn gathers to layer correctly, and with a fall meant for a princess, this skirt is meant to impress from all sides.
The interior has a lining, and the bottom is reinforced with tiny hand stitches to keep the lining moving with the skirt. The skirt has minor wear, with a missing catch on the back waistline for the hook, some very minor wear to the material, and an approximate 3 foot section of the very bottom that is worn on the material from walking, so there is a separation between the front material and the lining.
For the closest color, see picture #5 of the close up of the embroidery. That is the most accurate color you will see on your screen which matches the skirt.
I wore this skirt to many events, including Victorian, Civil War and others. This skirt will hold a double tiered hoop (might have to be tightened) and was thought to be an original Civil War when I wore it with hoops.
Isn't it time you were noticed for your excellent taste in clothing?
