The Boston & Maine RR acquired the Boston, Concord and Montreal RR in 1887, but gave it up in 1889, allowing it to merge with the Concord RR to form the Concord and Montreal. That company did poorly on its own, and was leased back to the Boston & Maine in 1895. Certificate is in VF+ condition with small hole cancels.

1887 Chesapeake & Delaware Canal Co. $500 Bond Certificate. Very attractive bond of this famous old canal with vignettes of canal boats at dock and canal lock. The Chesapeake & Delaware canal connects the Delaware River with the upper Chesapeake Bay providing a direct water like between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Construction was initiated in 1804, but due to a lack of financial capital, the canal was not completed until 1829. It is actively used today. Certificate is in VF+ condition.

This railroad got its start in 1837 as the Detroit and St. Joseph Railroad, providing service in southern Michigan. Starting in 1867, the railroad was operated as part of the New York Central Railroad. One of many bond issues, this registered bond has a vignette depicting two passenger steam trains passing under an iron bridge. VF condition
