Finding photos of animals by themselves done in tin type form is rare. This one was probably done in the mid to late 19th century.
The animal looks to be brown and white in color. He is sitting on his hind legs and in a three quarter pose, and possibly looking to his master. It was hard to photograph animals without substantial blurring, because of the exposure time required.
The photo is housed in a brown leather case with a front and back geometric design. The case has a double latch and an inside cover of embossed red velvet.
The piece measures 3 5/8" by 3 1/4" It is in nice vintage condition. The tin type looks clear but slightly dark. The case hinge has been rebound with fresh leather. The latches are intact.
