This diminutive portrait is hand painted on ivory and is very nicely detailed. As with many of the other miniatures I currently have on Ruby Lane, this was acquired from the estate of a prominent collector of miniature art. It probably dates from the mid 19th century. The Maharajah is finely dressed in gold with his turbaned plumed headpiece. He appears to have a bow slung over his shoulder and there is a glimpse of a temple behind him.

The portrait is unframed and measures 1 1/8" by 1 3/8". It is good antique condition.
