Gorgeous Sterling Lorgnette With Unusual Sterling Chain Marcasites
Shipping/Handling: To Be Determined

This absolutely fabulous piece was made in the beginning of the 20th century and used by an elegant lady to view the opera or read her program. Marked Germany and 935 a higher degree of silver than sterling it has a handle encrusted with marcasites and has a black glass stone, possibly onyx. Not only is the lorgnette stunning, but the chain is highly unusual. The top part measures 24" and then their is a second length of chain hanging from that one that measures 4". The chain is marked Germany and sterling. It is fine silver with five plaques that are cylindrical in shape and have scrolled silver inside each. The extra 4" of chain hangs from a pretty nouveau style cartouche. The lorgnette measures 3 1/4" when folded and 4" across the frame when opened. Couldn't you just see yourself going to that fine concert with these dangling from your neck?
Condition is excellent. Lenses appear scratch free and latch closure works great. There appears to be one marcasite missing, (can't be seen without strong magnification.)
