Great Tin Type of Boy On High Wheeler Bike

$55 USDGreat Tin Type of Boy On High Wheeler Bike

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Tricycles
What a great picture this is. This precious little boy of about three or four is perched atop a wonderful high wheeler bike, probably 1870's or 1880's vintage. The tin type is 1/6 plate size and measures 3 5/8" by 2 3/8". It was taken against a very pretty studio background depicting a country scene. It is nice vintage condition with some blackening around one edge. Please Note: Advanced approval is required on any international shipments before placing of orders. Thanks for visiting the shop.

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes
Here is an image done on tin that you rarely come across. It is half plate size and shows a boy of about 11 or 12 sitting in a cart pulled by a white dog.. The boy is wearing a hat and holding a stick. There is a fence in the background. The image measures 4 1/4 " by 6 3/4". It is in fair to good antique condition. The central picture is quite clear although a bit light, with some fading on the edges. The size and subject matter renders this rare and highly collectible. Shipping can be combined ...

Here is another glimpse into the working class life of the 19th century. The tintype is of sixth plate size and measures 2 1/2" by 3 1/4". It is in fair condition with some scratching, but the man and his tools are quite visible. This is a very nice tintype of a gentlemen dressed in some sort of Masonic outfit. It is sixth plate size measuring 21/2" by 31/8". Rare Outdoor Tin Type of Victorian Town

$40 USDRare Outdoor Tin Type of Victorian Town

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes
This is a sixth plate image of a country town probably taken in the late 19th century. It is done on tin and called a tin type. Outdoor shots from this era are rare and considered more valuable. This sixth plate size measures 3 3/4" by 2 1/2". It is in fair condition with some darkening around the edges. The scene is quite visible and would make a fine addition for tin type collectors. Shipping can be combined for multiple purchases. Please Note: Advanced approval is required on any ...

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Civil War Soldiers
This is a sixth plate size tin type of a Civil War soldier dressed in a Union uniform. It is a full outdoor shot and shows him holding his musket and I believe a knife. His belt buckle is also visible. The picture is housed in a leather geometric case that has a single latch and red velvet pad. The picture measures 2 3/4" by 3 1/4". It is in nice condition, just a touch on the dark side. The case hinge has been rebound. The latch is intact. Please Note: Advanced approval is required on any ...
Rare Sixth Plate Cased Tin Type of Pit Bull

$150 USDRare Sixth Plate Cased Tin Type of Pit Bull

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Dog
This is a wonderful and rare tin type of a dog sitting obediently by himself. I believe this is is a pit bull. Finding photos of animals by themselves done in tin type form is rare. This one was probably done in the mid to late 19th century. The animal looks to be brown and white in color. He is sitting on his hind legs and in a three quarter pose, and possibly looking to his master. It was hard to photograph animals without substantial blurring, because of the exposure time required. The photo ...
Sixth Plate Dog Tin Type in Leather Case

$150 USDSixth Plate Dog Tin Type in Leather Case

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Dog
I don't know the breed of this precious dog, but I'm sure you do. He is seen resting on a flowered coverlet and what I think is so endearing, the owner is resting his hand on the dogs back. As you may be aware, it was difficult to get one's pet to pose the required minute or so it took to shoot the tin type photo, so I guess this owner was encouraging him to be still. The tin type is housed in a brown leather case with matching geometric patterns on both halves and a single latch. It has an ...
Sixth Plate Occupational Tin Type Cobbler

$45 USDSixth Plate Occupational Tin Type Cobbler

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Cobbler
This tin type shows a man with a hammer fixing a boot. The man is dressed in his cobblers apron sitting on a stool, with a pole or stick holding up the boot. Unfortunately there is some emulsion loss on the boot but the subject matter and tools are still clearly visible, and I have priced it accordingly. It is a rare and desirable subject. The picture measures 2 3/8" by 3 1/2". Aside from the aforementioned emulsion loss it is in good shape with some darkening at the very bottom. Please Note: ...
Tin Type of Civil War Officer in Sixth Plate Leather Case

$175 USDTin Type of Civil War Officer in Sixth Plate Leather Case

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Civil War Soldiers
This is a very unusual pose for a Civil War soldier. I think the photographer was trying to be creative as he shows only the face and very top of the torso of this gentleman. He is quite a handsome fellow with his full head of hair and full beard and moustache. The top of his uniform is visible showing four brass buttons and an epaulet. The uniform and epaulet suggest this is an officer, however the rank is not visible. The tin type, measuring 2 3/4" by 3 1/4" is housed in a leather case with a ...

$150 USDTinted Tin Type of Civil War Soldier in Ninth Plate Leather Case

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Civil War Soldiers
This is a nice little tin type of a Union soldier from the Civil War. The picture has bee tinted and shows his shiny gold buttons and blush to his cheeks. It is housed in a ninth plate leather case with an embossed floral design. The interior has an embossed red velvet pad and closes with a single latch. When closed the case measures 2 3/4" by 2 1/4". The tin type is very clear, with a couple of minor bends which do not detract from the images view-ability. The case is in overall good condition, ...

$145 USDSweet Little Spotted Dog Tin Type / Sixth Plate Cased

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Dog
This is a very adorable small dog (puppy), perhaps a beagle? He was photographed on either a rug or grass; it is difficult to tell. The sixth plate tin type was probably taken during the latter part of the 19th century (approximately 1880's). It measures 3 1/4 by 2 7/8", and is housed in a leather case with a pretty embossed design of birds and flowers on both front and back covers. It has a red velvet embossed pad on the inner front cover and closes with two latches. The tin type seems to be in ...

$70 USDSixth Plate Cased Tin Type Adorable Young Boy On Tricycle

This is a wonderful tin type of a young boy cheerfully riding his tricycle. He almost seems to be smiling, which is quite unusual for photos taken in this era. He proudly poses, wearing an adorable suit and hat. The tin type is cased in a leather case which is brown in color and has a red velvet pad with an embossed leaf. It closes with two intact latches. The entire piece (closed case) measures 3 3/4" by 3 1/2". The tin type is in very good, clear condition. The leather case has had it's spine ...
Wonderful Tin Type of a Saint Bernard Puppy Dog

$90 USDWonderful Tin Type of a Saint Bernard Puppy Dog

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Dog
This great 19th century tin type is of a puppy. I believe a Saint Bernard. He is lying down, probably oblivious to the photographer. The sixth plate size photo measures approximately 2 1/2" by 3 1/2". He comes matted in a paper frame that measures 3' by 4 3/4". The dog tintype is in good vintage condition with a little dot on the photo and some very light scratching. The puppy dog shows very clearly. Please Note: Advanced approval is required on any international shipments before placing of ...
Wonderful Sixth Plate Tin Type of Retriever in Leather Case

$140 USDWonderful Sixth Plate Tin Type of Retriever in Leather Case

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Dog:Retriever
This is a tin type of a dog who I think is a retriever, my favorite kind. It dates to approximately 1880. The pooch is posed standing on his hind legs, which I imagine would be quite difficult considering the relatively long exposure time needed to take such tin types. Such an obedient pet. He is housed in a leather photo case with a pretty embossed design showing a floral bouquet. The tin type measures 3 1/4" by 2 3/4". It is in fair condition showing some emulsion loss on one side, which doesn ...
Adorable Quarter Plate Tin Type of Boy Soldier

$80 USDAdorable Quarter Plate Tin Type of Boy Soldier

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Soldier
Absolutely the cutest most adorable tin type of a little boy - in his soldier uniform. It was probably taken in the late 19th century, (around 1880), judging by the clothing and table background. The little one, of about 3 or 4, is dressed up in a soldier jacket and hat. He has a toy sword in his striped belt and is holding a toy rifle. There even appears to be a knapsack on his back; and check out the spats. The tin is quarter plate size measuring 4 5/8" by 3 1/2". It would look fabulous cased ...
Cased Sixth Plate Tin Type of Large Dog

$150 USDCased Sixth Plate Tin Type of Large Dog

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Dog
I am not quite sure what breed this dog is; perhaps a retriever. He is lying on his favorite quilt with his sad eyes looking up at you. I find him irresistible. This photo was done on tin, probably around 1880, in the most popular photographic medium of the time. It is sixth plate size, measuring 3 1/2" by 2 7/8". It is housed in a very nice brown leather double latched case with a floral design on both covers. The inside cover has an embossed red velvet pad. The tin type is in good vintage ...
SOLD Occupational Tin Type of a Stevedore

SOLDSOLD Occupational Tin Type of a Stevedore

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Occupational Stevadore
This is another unusual occupational tin type depicting a man in uniform holding a rope. My assumption is that he is a stevedore working at the docks and launching boats. Let me know if you have a different opinion. This mid to late 19th century tin type (approximately 1870's - 1880's) is 1/6 plate size, measuring 31/2" by 2 3/8". I believe it was taken against a studio background depicting water and trees but it could possibly be an outdoor shot. It is a little difficult to tell. It is in good ...
SALE PENDING Rare Sixth Plate Cased Tin Type of Dog on Victorian Chair

$150 USD Sale PendingSALE PENDING Rare Sixth Plate Cased Tin Type of Dog on Victorian Chair

Vintage Collectibles:Photographic:Tin Types Early Photography Ferrotypes:Dog
This is a wonderful and rare tin type of a dog perched all by himself on a fancy fringed Victorian style chair. Dog tin types are very rare. Remember the animal had to sit still for the better part of a minute to get the shot. Furthermore, the expense of paying for a photograph of your pet was not within the reach of the average citizen. This one shows a black dog, perhaps a lab with a white spot on his belly. He is posing very obediently on a fringed Victorian chair, probably velvet, that looks ...
