Vintage Italian 18K Gold Shell Cameo Brooch Pendant Diana Moon Goddess Quiver Bow STUNNER!

An exquisite hand-carved vintage shell cameo brooch/pendant. The cameo depicts Diana the Huntress, the Roman Moon Goddess, with classic features, a bow over her right shoulder, a quiver over her left shoulder, and a half-moon in her hair.

The cameo is held inside a beautiful solid 18 karat gold frame with graceful scallops and pretty little flowers. The frame has both a hinged pendant finding that can be flipped up, enabling you to wear the cameo on a chain, and a pin finding with a safety catch.

The carving has exquisite detail, done by a very talented Italian artisan. Diana's profile shows small curls in her hair and a string of small pearls cascading down her head. The coloring is beautiful as well, with subtle variations in tone. A very lovely and fine jewelry piece!

This item was purchased by the previous owner in the 1960's at an Antique Shop. We believe the design of the cameo and the intricate floral setting places this piece in the early 1900's.

This stunning cameo is marked on the back of the frame with a "750," which is the designation for 18K gold in Italy. It is also marked "IA," which indicates the region it was made in. The entire brooch measures 1-3/8" high x 1-1/4" wide and would make a lovely holiday gift for that special someone. The condition is Excellent, with only minor stress marks on the back of the cameo.
