This antique shaving mug has a red 'Germany' on the bottom indicated the country of manufacture but not the porcelain factory. This was typical in the late 19th Century as factories were required only to stamp with the country of origin for exportation.

Offering for your consideration we have a very old and very rare square shaped shaving mug. The scuttle shape was very popular but we have never seen one that was square in mold design. This may have been for the mug to sit securely on a small shaving stand or shelf.

It is a larger piece as well measuring 6.5" long x 3.75" high and 3.125" wide. The top portion has drainage holes and this is where your soap goes. Behind that and above the handle is a nice shelf to place the shaving brush after soaping the face.

The body of the mug is decorated with a pretty yellow rose and purple lilac transfer. You will also see just a spray of lilacs on the backside.

We could not find any damage to this awesome piece! It is really a great collectible.
