German Brown Gold Foil Master Strawberry Fruit Bowl C. Tielsch Altwasser 19th Century

There is no hallmark on this item but based on the brown background and design of the bowl we are attributing it to the C. Tielsch Factory in Altwasser Germany. Many earlier items were not marked and this piece is c. late 19th Century.

The mold on this is fantastic as it curves out from the bottom of bowl and ends with a lovely scalloped rim. The dark brown chocolate background gives it eye appeal but the decorators were not done. They added wonderful strawberries in a ruby red color and highlighted the leaves with white to represent the sun.

We see white daisies peeking out behind the strawberry patch against a background of light lavender. There is a rim of deep turquoise color just above the bottom of the bowl which is decorated with gold foil designs. The top rim of the bowl has gold sponging that is still very vibrant.

Except for a bit of age related wear; this item is in wonderful condition. You'll notice the rim shows the brown background with white areas. I don't think this is wear; but rather how the bowl was decorated so long ago.

It is an eye catcher!

This piece measures a very large 2.625" deep and 10.5" in diameter at the top.
