This is one of the most beautiful pieces I've had in a long time. It's an old 1895 chromolithograph of pink carnations in a glass vase, entitled "A Study in Pink", superbly executed by the Victorian artist, Harry Roseland. It is ALL original and intact, with a wonderful barbola swag rose frame. The print is mint, and the thick matting has a lovely patina. The frame has just the right amount of aging, creamy white with gold accents. As with all old frames, there is a little gesso missing, but this one is remarkably in great condition. The overall size with the barbola frame is aprox 14 x 21 inches, in the half yard long format. Roseland was a peer of both Paul de Longpre and C. Klein, and he was very well known for his American portraits as well as flower studies. These darker flower studies are a bit hard to photograph, so please excuse any whitish lines, they are only glass glare.
