2 Antique Victorian CUPID 1/2 Yard Long Print s - Chromo c1870 Cherub

**Be sure to use the enlarge feature to see these better!** Wow, are these a find! Not one, but TWO Cupid 1/2 yard longs in a matching style. These are very old chromolithographs, and probably date to 1870. They are what is called "self matted", as the brick colored edge on the print actually looks like a mat, but is part of the print paper. In one scene, little winged Spring cupids gather roses to make garland rose wreaths. The table the roses rest on even has griffins! The other print scene represents a Fall harvest festival. Each one of these has superb detailing, and lots of activity represented. (Sorry for any glass glare reflection in the photos, but these were really hard to photograph.)

The prints are in very good condition. They do have some wear, as is consistent with pieces this old. The cupids/roses print has two tears on the left middle that just reach the edge of the brick "mat". There are a couple 1/4" tears top center that lay very flat and are hardly seen. On the bottom, near the far right third of the "mat", another tear, but it doesn't enter the cupid area of the print. The Fall scene, has a tear top left that extends 1" into the black background area just above the wine jug of the far left cupid. A couple small scratches on the face of the print, again, nothing detracting. At the right top corner, a larger tear or scratch that cross the black area of that corner just above the "marker" at the far end. Between the last 2 cupids, there are a couple small dents, I can't quite tell if they are repairs or just indentations, again hardly seen. Bottom right corner has a flat mended tear only in the "mat" area, hardly seen. Most of these flaws are not even noticeable, I don't really see them until I put them under an examining light, but I think it's best to disclose them. They barely show up when hung, you really have to hunt for them. The Fall frame has a mended break at the bottom center, painted over. The top area of the frame has a crack, again painted over.

Each frame has gorgeous shell and floral cartouche brass corner brackets that really set these frames off beautifully. Each framed print measures aprox 6 x 18.75 inches.
