Vintage C. 30’s Antique Gold Wooden Box w/Barbola Roses

You are looking at a great looking 1930’s antique gold wooden box, which features a beautiful long branch of Barbola roses & leaves. The Barbola roses are done in creamy yellow & a two tone rose color; there are also three rose buds. The stem is brown and most of the leaves are two tone green, with antique gold edges.

This box has a great story to it. The man I purchased it from bought it many, many years ago in England from the original owner. The elderly woman apparently kept a flask inside, with her drink of choice in it! The inside is in such wonderful, unused condition because she kept the bottom covered in velvet. The inside has absolutely no odor.

The overall condition is quite good, with the following to note: as you can see, the top has a couple worn areas & a few teensy nicks here and there. The box opens from the front & due to use and age, this area shows some wear to the antique gold finish. This shows up as light black. As mentioned above, the inside looks new. The bottom features the original green felt, which has faded over time.

The approximate dimensions are: 10 ½” wide, 4 ½” long & 2 ¾” deep.

This is a wonderful 1930’s Barbola box with a great history. It would make a wonderful addition to any Barbola collection or to any vanity table.
