Antique Hand Painted Satin Glass Biscuit Barrel with Purple Poppy Flowers & Gold Leafing

You are looking at a gorgeous biscuit barrel which dates to the early 1900’s. The satin glass is done in a very light, creamy yellow. Although it was difficult to capture, the glass inside has a shallow scalloped/curved design; it is smooth to the touch on the outside. There are also "flash" spots.

As you can see, it features beautiful hand painted detail; a large Poppy flower & buds, leaves & gold leafing.

The silver plate swing handle, lid & rim are in very good condition, with some light discoloration from wear. I personally love the look of the patina.

There are no cracks or chips to the glass. There are a couple glass bubbles original to the piece & done during the making of the piece. Although not a flaw, it’s being noted for complete accuracy. There is very slight paint loss. On the back, there is a very thin dark line & below this is a very light scratch; I consider both very minor. The bright spot below the thin dark line is from the flash of the camera and not a flaw.

The height is 6 ½” to the rim; the handle adds an additional 4 ¼”. The circumference is 17 ½” around the largest bottom portion.

This is a beautiful & very decorative antique biscuit barrel which you will absolutely love.
