Antique Victorian Celluloid Upright Vanity Box with Hibiscus Flowers & Contents

Please note the hibiscus flowers, along with the rest of the celluloid, is quite a bit brighter than what my pictures show. The colors are amazing!

This is a gorgeous celluloid drop down style vanity box, with beautiful bright Hibiscus flowers. The celluloid is in excellent condition with minor surface scratches to note.

The base, sides and back are paper, done in beautiful fall leaves. The paper is wrinkled and has minor overall paper loss.

The once green silk lining is now mostly a light brown and has a couple teensy spots of minor shredding. It's so minor it's hardly worth mentioning.

Included with the box is a brush, which has two cracks that go all the way through (although it's stable), a rouge pot, comb and mirror. The mirror has minor silver loss but it’s free of cracks. The brush & mirror are quite ornate, with flowers, scrollwork and gold leafing. There is only one piece missing from this box; the missing piece would have been located in front of the brush handle.

As you can see, there’s a very small gap when the box is closed. The round ball portion of the closure is missing from the tip of the metal piece, causing this, but the box stays closed, without any problem.

The approximate dimensions taken from the base are: 10 ¼” long, 4 ½” wide, 7 1/4" high from the base to the back portion of the box.

This is a gorgeous box that will enhance any collection.
