LET'S MAKE A DEAL! Delightful Fun Unique Hard to Find Vintage Goodies from Times Past and Considered "Very Collectible"
The clear glass chimney fits into the base and holds what looks to be the original red candle. There are a few teensy flea bites on the rim hardly noticeable without looking extra close.
The base of the lamp is a square measuring about 2 ½” x 2 ½” and 2” high. It is in the shape of a house having red paint simulating brick and yellow windows. Painted snow covers the rooftop. I only see a couple of insignificant places where dots of red paint is missing. On one side is a green painted finger handle with a decorative white bow. Underneath the base is a small nick I found when photographing.
When all put together, Santa and his reindeer sits on top of the shade giving the appearance of him flying over the house. This piece is 2 ½” long by ¾” wide. It is stamped Japan on the bottom.
The lamp appears to have never been used other than being set up for display during the holidays. It comes in its original box which is in good shape. The lid is loose with one piece of the lid separated so you have to be careful when handling it. The box measurement is 4 ½” x 4 ¾” with a poinsettia motif and the lamp is pictured on the lid. The original straw is still there. The Gimbels 39 cent price sticker is still on the side.
Small and functional, this cute hurricane lamp from days gone by will surely put one in a festive mood quickly. It will look great on a mantle, bedside table, hall tree or even the kitchen or bathroom. It’s a pretty rare item and I would consider it “very collectible”.
