Pairs of sleek nested ovoid sterling concave planes make visually arresting earrings in a Martta Ritvanen design for Kaunis Koru. Each earring measures 1 1/16” high by ¾” wide by 1/4” at the side edge where the two planes curve apart. The brightly polished surfaces made photography a little difficult as the curves and double layers reflect in nearly every direction.

The back of the earrings are hallmarked with : MKR (the founder and designer’s initials) the crown/heart (made within Finland hallmark) 925 (sterling purity) Y7 (crafted in1976 ) and the Kaunis Koru back-to-back K hallmark. Posts fittings for pierced ears are finished with new sterling clutches. The earrings are in very fine condition and exemplify the best in mid-century style that makes them timelessly chic.

Kaunis Koru Oy was established in 1954 by Martta Ritvanen in Helsinki, Finland. She had formerly worked for Kalevala Koru and in her own company was a pioneer in introducing Modernist designs as well as gathering famed, avant-garde designers to work with her. The company was later acquired by acquired by Kalevala Koru Oy.
