This memorable vintage Celebrity glass cameo necklace and earrings set features two-color portraits set on glass backgrounds with golden citrine rhinestones accents. The set was most likely made by DeLizza & Elster (the makers of Juliana jewelry) as they were documented as creating such distinctive pieces for Celebrity and no other makers have been identified.

The brooch / pendant is 2 3/8” high and 1 5/8” wide. The prong-set oval smoky quartz oval tablet upon which the cameo is set is transparent and has a rope-twist raised border. The cameo depicts a classical young lady with a coiffure of upswept curls held by two thin bands. The glass is as a misty light blue with a swath of magenta purple. The gold-plated brooch frame is made of heart-shape scrolls of ribbed wire accented with prong-set citrine rhinestones.

The reverse of the brooch has both a safety-clasp pin and a snap hook through which you may slip a thin chain or ribbon or onto which you can hook a chunkier chain such as this one that I am including. I don’t believe the sets usually came with chains yet this works very well: it is 25” long and has brightly polished novelty links and one large central ring onto which you can clip the cameo brooch. The “Celebrity” oval tag is affixed to the lower edge of the brooch; the frame is angled all around so there is no flat surface. The condition is very fine with only some minor wear to the plating on the hook and tag and some scratches on the smooth collar of the back.

The shoulder-duster earrings make an entrance all on their own: each is 3” long and has three layers of scrolled designs joined by ribbed bands. The pendant is 1 ¼” wide and uses miniatures mirror-image versions of classic cameos in the same glass colors as that of the brooch. The earrings have clip findings, each stamped “Celebrity.” One is set slightly off-center but it still hugs the ear securely.

The colors of these cameos are really unusual the quality and intricacy certainly due add to the intrigue—both also underscore the probability that these are from DeLizza & Elster. At any rate, finding the matching pieces together—a wonderful stroke of luck!
