Pair of Rearing Pegasus Advertising Ashtrays for Mobilgas

Here is a impressive pair of Rearing Pegasus figure in a Bronze Copper metal. The Flying horses, long a symbol for Mobilgas, are leaping into flight from an angular rocky outcropping.

The only marks I could find were small raised letters on the back of the casting "Pat.Pend" and a tag on the green felt underside "Mfg'd by Trophy Craft Los Angeles"

The metal is defined in the collectors book "Metal Horses" as Bronze Copper over grey metal with an estimated date of 1930 to 1940..

These castings measure approx. 6 3/4" by 5 3/4" wide by almost 6" tall. There is a missing tail on one figure and a cigarette mark. The second figure is complete

These comes from the collection of George Rutter. Mr Rutter collecting many pieces of Oil & Gas Advertising over the years.

He was a Script Supervisor on early Hollywood TV Productions working on many shows including Lassie, Mary Tyler Moore and Star Trek
