This piece is from our own private collection. From C1910, you could describe this candle holder as "rare" but to be conservative we have said scarce. On many of these Holbein glazed pieces the glaze is too thick and patchy. In this case the colour and texture are very good. The series was introduced in 1909 and discontinued by 1932. The backstamp was introduced in 1902 and gradually replaced between around 1923 to 1927. Another scarce piece from our private collection, this baby plate is from the 1910's, perhaps the early 1920's. (The series was introduced in 1912 and discontinued by 1940. Circa late 1930's, early 1940's. Pattern D457? Shape 7787. We have not been able to identify this pattern. Louise Irvine (author of the series ware books) told us that she has seen the pattern before but was unable to identify it. Length 11" (28cm), width 5" (12.5cm). It is almost square in shape measuring 12.2cm (4.8") by 13.2cm (5.2") and is 2.7cm (1.1") deep. Great condition.
