This exotic Lotus set is part of a series of Egyptian Revival pieces that top designer Hattie Carnegie is famous for – which finds its place of honor in many vintage jewelry books. This stunning, finely constructed set is focused around the lotus flower design on the large pendant. The lotus is a flower that blossoms after rising out of muddy waters, which makes it a symbol of purity of the soul within the material world, and an emblem of resurrection.

The pendant, which hangs from a book or box chain adorned with 4 oval faux turquoise and lapis beads, is nothing short of royal. I certainly can envision the regal Cleopatra wearing this necklace! The triangular top portion is enameled in colors of red, green and turquoise and cobalt blues, forming the lotus flower – over a gold plated metal base. Seven 4 1/2" inch length beaded strands dangle from the lotus, in alternating colors of turquoise, gold and lapis, and finish in a flourish of textured, figural "tassels". The necklace's wearable length 22" inches and its closure is a spring ring clasp that closes tightly.

The earrings are elongated drop flat "hoops", which dangle from a single, gold rimmed, blue round cabochon. The dangling drop portions are stunning with radiating geometric shapes in the matching colors of turquoise, green and lapis blue. These earrings are clip backs and hold securely. They measure slightly longer than 2" inches and about 7/8" of an inch wide.

Both the back of the lotus section on the necklace pendant and the earrings backs are signed "Hattie Carnegie" with the Copyright symbol in an oval cartouche, which dates this set between 1955 and the early 1960's. This set is in perfect condition, no flaws to note. The enameling is totally intact. This is a masterpiece of a set that is highly collectible...and sure to get you noticed and garner compliments galore!
