About Us
MEET THE ARTIST
Dick Sherman (Richard A. Sherman) is a seasoned, instrument-rated commercial pilot and third generation photographer in the cockpit of his L-17 NAVION Warbird.
Dick learned to fly when he was 19 years old. A retired vice president of marketing and sales for an international industrial paint company, he flew the Navion around the country on business throughout his career.
Dick flies in air shows around the south and the northeast. Dick has more than 30 years of flight experience and has been featured on 20/20, The Travel Channel, The Discovery Channel & WBZ Channel 4's Chronicle.
PILOT–PHOTOGRAPHER STATEMENT
All photos were shot at an altitude of about 800–1000 ft. with a Canon digital camera (with the exception of "Vineyard Sunrise", which was shot from an altitude of 6,000). What you see was created by nature. Colors were not created or changed. The abstract images are aerial shots of shallow areas in the sea. I intend to continue photographing what I think is a fascinating display of visual and abstract art.
ARTIST'S COLLECTION
Dick Sherman’s current collection includes aerial photographs in the following locations: Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Block Island, Florida Keys, Marco Island and the Florida west coast. As of April, 2008, Sherman's collection includes close to 70 images. We will continue to add new images to our Limited Edition shop collection on a weekly basis.
ARTIST'S DAUGHTER AND SHOP MANAGER
Dick Sherman's daughter, Gay Sherman, runs the shop and shares her collection of carefully selected vintage jewelry.
Gay is well educated in the various costume designers of the 1920's–1970's. Her favorites are Schiaparelli, Vendome, Weiss, Sphinx (England), Trifari (Alfred Philippe), Accessocraft, Boucher, Castlecliff and Napier (charm bracelets!), as well as glass, crystal and sterling silver from the Art Deco period. Gay's secret passion is Christmas tree pins! Ahh, Eisenberg, Weiss, Swoboda, Corocraft, JJ, Laguna...
Gay is currently building a collection of souvenir jewelry. Her first purchases were a Florida "Weeki Wachee Springs" souvenir charm bracelet (mermaid included!) and a New York City enameled panel bracelet, which features NYC's main attractions, Empire State Building, Times Square, including the former twin towers.
