About Us
My name is Rachel Uchizono and I am an artist living in Laguna Beach, California. I paint Plein Air, which means to paint landscapes on location. Laguna Beach has a rich tradition of plein air painting. Many great painters have set up their easel and painted Laguna locations that remain unchanged. William Wendt, Edger Payne and Hanson Puthuff to name a few of the great artists that founded the original Laguna Beach art colony in the 1920's. My paintings are of canyons, eucalyptus trees and seascapes. In my studio I paint my stuffed peacock, flowers from my garden and persimmons. I have exhibited at Studio 7 Gallery for 11 years and exhibited at the Sawdust Festival for 7 years. Offered for sale at my gallery are my paintings as I paint them..
My store also offers a great variety of Victorian coral jewelry. I became enamored with Victorian coral when I was recovering from a motorcycle accident (it ran me over!) Each piece I found was like falling in love. I find coral to be very healing.
