What a beautiful face on this AM 1894! She's 20" tall, and was manufactured in the late 1800's or early 1900's by the German firm of Armand Marseilles. A lot of the early A.M. dolls have nice quality bisque....and she is no exception. She's signed on the back of her head, "1894 AM 8 DEP." She has a nice French human hair wig. She's dressed in vintage/antique clothing including a dress, full slip, pantaloons, socks, and shoes. This is her detailed description:

HEAD: Her bisque socket head has a teeny split at the rim, and a small chip at the stringing hole. Otherwise, there are no hairlines, chips, cracks, or repairs. She has fine quality bisque that’s smooth to the touch. She has the pale early bisque, and her face painting is really well done. She has beautiful brown sleep eyes that work well. Her eye wax is original and fully intact. Her upper & lower eyelashes are painted at a slant. Her eyebrows are beautifully painted and feathered. Her lip paint is a subtle coral color with pretty shading. Her cheek blush is nice and even, with no rubs. She’s wearing a pretty brunette human hair wig that’s tagged, “Made in France.”

BODY: Her original body is made of composition and wood. It’s the desirable straight-wristed body that’s jointed at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. The body’s in nice sturdy condition. All fingers and toes are intact, and the tops of her hands still have the original blush. Upon close examination, I see that the left lower leg was repaired and repainted at the joint. (see photo) Other than that, the body is all original finish. There are a few chips on the upper right leg (wood), and a small compo chip at the neck. Overall, it’s a nice early body.

CLOTHES: She’s nicely dressed in vintage/antique clothing, including a dress, full slip, pantaloons, shoes, stockings, and a pretty pink bow in her hair. Her pretty dress is a pink & white print. It has a white lace-trimmed collar, lace trim at the cuffs, and (2) rows of vertical lace on the bodice. There are (2) tiny lace-trimmed pockets on the skirt. The dress closes in back with (2) tiny white buttons. There’s also a sash that ties in the back. The dress is in nice condition. Her full slip is made of white cotton. It has lace-trimmed short sleeves, a defined waist, and a ruffled hem. The slip closes in back with (3) white buttons. The slip’s in nice condition, but has a couple of tears at the back seam. Her white cotton pantaloons are in nice condition. They have an elasticized waist and legs, and there’s dainty lace trim at the hem. Her vintage black fishnet stockings are in good shape, with just a teeny hole at one toe. Her vintage or antique shoes are made of oilcloth. They have slight wear, One of the lace grommets broke through, so I stitched it shut. There’s a toe decoration and buckle on each shoe, and they tie in the center with replaced black ribbon ties. There’s a pretty pink satin bow in her hair.
