This lovely German doll has a perfect bisque head, and her original French-type body. She is 18” tall, and is signed on the back of her head, “Made in Germany 7.” The lady I bought the doll from attributes her to the Baer & Proschild factory. She does resemble the B & P dolls, many of which were made for the French Trade with French-type bodies. This is her detailed description:

HEAD: Her bisque socket head is perfect, with NO hairlines, chips, cracks, or repairs. She has high quality pale bisque that’s smooth to the touch. There’s some roughness at the rim (factory), and a few speckles on the forehead. She has beautiful brown eyes that sleep perfectly. Her original eye wax is intact. Her upper & lower eyelashes are nicely painted at a slant. She has well-painted & feathered eyebrows. She has nice even cheek blush. Her mouth is open, with pretty lip painting and (4) tiny upper teeth. She has a pronounced chin dimple. Her ears are pierced, but she has no earrings. When piercing her left ear at the factory, it appears that the knife slipped and they painted right over it. This is very minor, but I want to mention everything.

WIG: She’s wearing her original auburn mohair wig. The wig has lost some hair over the years, but it looks fine on display.

BODY: Her French-type composition & wood body’s in nice, sturdy condition for the age of the doll. The finish is all original, with NO repair or repaint. Typical of French bodies, there are a few little chips here & there. (see body close-up photo) The body is fully-jointed at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees. The torso is quite detailed. All fingers and toes are intact, with a tiny flake in the composition on the back of (2) fingers.

CLOTHES: She is display-ready with a vintage dress, antique pantaloons, antique half-slip, vintage stockings, and newer patent-leather shoes. Her drop-waist silk dress is a pretty teal blue. It’s fully lined, and has a ruffled skirt. The dress closes in back with (4) hook & eye closures. Her pantaloons are ecru knit, with cotton eyelet lace at the hem. The pantaloons have a slim band at the waist, and they button on the side. There's a faint rust stain near the hem, and a tear at the left seam. She’s also wearing a pretty white cotton half-slip. The slip has a slim band at the waist, and it buttons at the back waist. The slip has dainty lace trim at the hem. She’s also wearing dark blue knee-high knit stockings. Her shoes are black patent leather, and they buckle on the side. One shoe has a bow, the other one is missing. We added an antique straw hat to her wardrobe.
