This lovely antique doll is an 18” flat top china head doll. She dates between 1860-1870. The flat top hairdo is also known as a Civil War hairdo. She’s in excellent condition for her age, and is beautifully dressed. (my photos don't do her justice) Her shoes, socks, and pantaloons are original. Her 2-piece gown is vintage and handstitched. It fits like it was made especially for her years ago. This is her detailed description:

HEAD: Her china shoulderhead is perfect, with no hairlines, chips, cracks or repairs. She has a flat top or civil war hairdo. Her painted hair is black, with a center-part and molded curls. As you can see, there’s a good-sized rub on one front curl. There’s a pinpoint pit in the middle of her forehead She has serene-looking blue painted eyes. There’s black eyeliner above her eyes, and red eyeliner over that. Her eyebrows are single-stroke, and painted black. Her cheek blush is nice and even. Her mouth is closed, with painted lips. She has (3) sewholes in front and (3) in the back.

BODY: Her original body’s in nice, clean condition for the age of the doll. (just one little stain in the back) The main part of the body is cloth, and the lower arms are leather. The leather arms have darkened a little with age, but they are in very good condition. All fingers are intact. There is some reinforcement stitching at one shoulder. The cloth body is jointed at the hips and knees, so she sits very well.

CLOTHES: She’s beautifully dressed, and ready for your cabinet. Her shoes, stockings, and pantaloons are original. It’s hard to find dolls of this age with their original shoes and stockings. Her original shoes have wear, but they are really nice old shoes. They are black leather, and lace up the front. (replaced laces) Her original stockings are in nice condition, just two little holes in one of them. The stockings have (2) rows of red trim at the top. Her original white cotton pantaloons are in good sturdy condition with a few minor rust stains. The pantaloons have a wide band at the waist, (4) rows of tiny pintucks and wide lace at the hem. The pantaloons never had closures, and are pinned shut at the side. Her vintage 2-piece gown is beautiful! It’s handstitched, and it fits like it was made especially for her years ago. The gown is a black & white checked material, and is trimmed with black net. The long-sleeved jacket really suits her. It has red satin trim and a pretty satin bow at the neck. (faded to pink) Around the waist, there’s a black suede ribbon. The matching skirt has a slim band at the waist. The skirt never had closures, and it's pinned shut on the side.
