Extremely beautiful and hugely admired tarot set, “The Tarot of Prague,” published in this original Limited 1st Edition by Xymbio of Prague c.2003, featuring the designs of Karen Mahony and Alex Ukolov. The designs are collages of pictures of the art and architecture of Prague, and the effect is stunning. The set consists of the deck of tarot cards in a heavy folder with an explanatory booklet permanently attached to the back “cover” of the folder, together with a separate stand alone 300-page book. The folder (including cards) is bound together with gold ribbons. This 1st Edition had a total run of 3500 sets, and this is number 0301. The card attesting to this number, permanently attached to the front “cover” of the folder, is signed by the artists.

The deck has the usual 78 cards – fool, 21 major arcana, 56 minor arcana – plus a second (and different) death card, plus an advertising insert card. The accompanying stand alone book is outstanding, a very valuable resource. For each card, there is a brief description of the card, plus a short interpretation of the card (the same as is in the booklet in the folder), plus a lengthier explanation of the card (not in the booklet), plus identifications and locations for the source materials that comprise the collage. The cards are large, measuring 124mm x 74mm, and the entire set comes in an attractive, but not very sturdy paper container with sleeve.

The entire set is in “as new” condition, except for the container that houses the whole set. The paper that divides the compartment for the cards from the compartment for the book has developed a separating tear at each end, and there are signs of wear to the sleeve.

Thanks for visiting.
