Mint, sealed deck of cards made by Grimaud, c.1984, called “Jeu ‘Gerente,’” with designs based upon woodcuts from the studio of brothers Alfred and Henri Gerente. The Gerentes were stained glass makers and restorers, whose stained glass windows are among the finest in the world. Among other projects, the Gerentes worked for/with the great French architect Violet-le-Duc in the restoration of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in the mid-19th century. Although I do not have an open deck of these cards, the deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers, plus an insert card. The cards are on plain board stock without coating, with square corners and without indices, and are wide (i.e., 89mm x 63mm).
