Beautiful set of Bohemian pattern cards made by Piatnik at its Prague factory, for sale in Czechoslovakia. Fournier dates these cards to 1933, and I have done the same, but it is possible that they were made a few years earlier. The backs are unusual and very fine, with the Piatnik name and what I believe is a picture (illustration, not photograph) of the Prague Cathedral. Beautiful deck of cards made by publisher Ceska Graficka “Unie” of Prague, c.1920. The court cards are in the Viennese small crown pattern, and the backs – no. 24 according to the wrapper – depict a woman dressed only in a wrap around the waist, who looks a bit like a classical Greek or Roman figure. The deck has 52 cards, plus 2 Jokers. The cards are large, wide, and on thick stock.
