Charles Goodall "The Cribbage Board," No. 9914, c.1900

$75 USDCharles Goodall "The Cribbage Board," No. 9914, c.1900

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Goodall 9914
Handsome cribbage board made by Charles Goodall & Son, Ltd., the famous card maker, c.1900, called simply "The Cribbage Board," and numbered 9914. It is inlaid with a variety of different woods, and has a warm, rich patina. It was sold to me with 4 bone/ivory pegs – 2 white that match and 2 red that do not – that are stored underneath the board in a compartment covered by a wood slider, and the pegs fit the peg holes reasonably well. The board sits on small brass feet, and the Goodall label is ...
2 Boardless Cribbage Products: (i) “Cribbage To Go”; (ii) Daljon “PentaKribb with Tuface”

$25 USD2 Boardless Cribbage Products: (i) “Cribbage To Go”; (ii) Daljon “PentaKribb with Tuface”

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Boardless Cribbage Products (Pentakribb, Cribbage To Go)
Two boardless cribbage products that use scoring sheets rather than a board. The featured picture shows both items, and the second picture shows the back of the “Cribbage to Go” pad. The remaining pictures are of the PentaKribb with Tuface. The first is called “Cribbage to Go” and is simply a pad of paper scoring sheets with its own deck of cards and a pencil. The second is called “PentaKribb with Tuface” and is actually a cribbage variant made by Daljon, Inc., using a special 40-card “Tuface” ...

$150 USDHand Made Cribbage Board w/ Hand Carved and Painted Merchant Sailor Pegs

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Hand Made W/ Carved Pegs
Wonderful hand made cribbage board with outstanding hand carved and painted merchant sailor wood pegs. There are 3 pegs for each player, 2 small pegs for counting points in the game, and 1 large peg for keeping track of games won. The board itself is a large grained wood, perhaps pine, stained dark. The board is large, measuring approximately 21.3” by 9.3”. The large pegs measure approximately 5.3” in height when in the board, and the small pegs measure approximately 2.5”. There are four small ...
Rifle Buttstock Cribbage Board

$75 USDRifle Buttstock Cribbage Board

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Rifle Buttstock
Handsome, simple cribbage board made out of the buttstock of a rifle with a metal cribbage playing surface inlaid on one side. I purchased it from a seller in the U.K., and so assume that it is a British rifle. The 5 original brass pegs are stored in a hole that has been drilled in the end of the buttstock beneath the buttplate. The board is approximately 10.2” in length at the longest and 4.5” in width at the widest. The board is in excellent condition. Four of the 5 pegs are slightly loose in ...
Plastic Travel Cribbage Set w/ Playing Cards, c.1970s

$30 USDPlastic Travel Cribbage Set w/ Playing Cards, c.1970s

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Travel Plastic
Glitzy, some-might-even-say-kitschy-but-I-say-glam, red plastic travel cribbage set, made c.1970s, with a deck of cards that I have contributed that seems to me to be appropriate but that probably dates a little later. [The cards that came with it were not original and were a wreck]. There is a space for the cards in the center of the board, surrounded by the plastic streets, and the 4 custom metal pegs live in a hole at the top of the board. A clear plastic top protects the board, and keeps the ...
Ken-E-Built Cribbage Board, Red Plastic, c.1950

$30 USDKen-E-Built Cribbage Board, Red Plastic, c.1950

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Ken-e-built Red Plastic
Relatively rare plastic cribbage board made by a company in Maywood, California called Ken-E-Built Products Co. The board and maker are not mentioned in the Bemis guide. The box states that the board was distributed by Sterling Industries of Los Angeles, and an address is given for Sterling that includes the 2-digit postal zone code (i.e., 14) for Los Angeles. This suggests a date between 1943 and 1963. The board includes a pamphlet that gives the basic rules of cribbage, and that booklet has a ...
Le Count “Imitator” Cribbage Board, Maker Unknown, Model No. 3 w/ Original Box, c.1900

$50 USDLe Count “Imitator” Cribbage Board, Maker Unknown, Model No. 3 w/ Original Box, c.1900

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Le Count "Imitator", Model No.3
Recently listed in this shop is a Le Count cribbage board, Model No.3 (T00001397), a model made by C.W. Le Count in the last two decades of the 19th century and even into the early years of the 20th century. The Le Count board was sold by Montgomery Ward and Sears, and was very popular. It spawned a number of imitators – boards that looked very similar, and were made about the same, but were not made by Le Count. Offered here is one such “imitation” Le Count. The maker is unknown, and this board ...
Mahogany Wood Cribbage Board w/ Faux Ivory Scrimshaw Inlay, Les Anderson

$35 USDMahogany Wood Cribbage Board w/ Faux Ivory Scrimshaw Inlay, Les Anderson

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Les Anderson ("Scrimshaw")
Diminutive cribbage board, made of beautiful mahogany wood, with a faux ivory inlay scrimshawed by Pacific Northwest artist Les Anderson. The scrimshaw depicts the head of a bighorn sheep, and the artist has initialed his work. The board comes with its 4 original brass pegs, and measures 5.5" by 2.0" and is .5" thick. The board is in excellent condition, without cracks, chips or scratches. The contrast of the inlay and the wood is quite striking. Thanks for visiting.
Great Western Enterprises “Earl Moran Pin-Up” Cribbage Board, c.1980s

$65 USDGreat Western Enterprises “Earl Moran Pin-Up” Cribbage Board, c.1980s

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Great Western "Earl Moran Pin-up"
During the 1980s and into the 1990s, Great Western Enterprises made beautiful cribbage boards using a variety of designs – advertising, wildlife, scenic, sports. The company is no longer in business. This is the first board I have ever seen – by Great Western or otherwise – that features a background image of a classic pin-up illustration. The pin-up design is by Earl Moran, a hugely successful pin-up artist of the 1940s and 1950s, perhaps best known because a young Marilyn Monroe posed for him. ...

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Ivory (Buddhist Goddess)
Beautiful ivory cribbage board, probably made in Japan or Hong Kong, following World War II, for sale to U.S. servicemen and officials as a souvenir. It features a fine carving of a Buddhist goddess – probably Tara – at the “top” the board. It is tapered in shape, wider at the “bottom” than at the top. The 6 original pegs (3 red, 3 white) are housed at one end of the board in a compartment with a screw type top. The board measures approximately 7.5" in length, including the screw top and goddess ...

Superb John Mayne cribbage set and playing card holder, made of wood, with brass appointments, including the peg streets, featuring a total of 14 Regiment Foot Guards made of a very heavy painted metal, perhaps lead. Four of the Guardsmen are full length guards that are stationed at the four corners of the cribbage board. The other 10 Guardsmen – 4 serving as pegs for the cribbage board, and 6 stationed on the card holder – are half length. The card holder includes the set of cards that ...

Lovely Japanese ivory cribbage board, featuring a very fine hand carved and painted center design depicting a Japanese village scene with Mt. Fuji in the background, made c.1940s, in its original black case and with its original pegs. These boards were made in the early 1940s in Japan and Hong Kong, as World War II came to an end, for sale to U.S. servicemen and officials as souvenirs. The board is signed by the artist on the back. As is typical of these boards, the 6 original pegs (3 red, 3 ...
Charles A. Brewer & Sons Portable “Vest Pocket Cribbage Board,” c.1925

$50 USDCharles A. Brewer & Sons Portable “Vest Pocket Cribbage Board,” c.1925

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Brewer "Vest Pocket Cribbage Board"
Wonderful and rare folding portable "Vest Pocket Cribbage Board" made c.1925 by Charles A. Brewer & Sons. Bemis describes that this board is made of pressed paper. This pressed product is covered with a fabric that has black peg holes against a red background, and is black on the back and sides. This fabric is what holds the two sides of the board together when folded (i.e, there are no hinges). Given the age of the board, it is surprising that the fabric is still quite intact at the fold. There ...
Continuous 2-Track Ivory Cribbage Board, c.1940s

$150 USDContinuous 2-Track Ivory Cribbage Board, c.1940s

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Continuous Ivory 2-track
Excellent ivory cribbage board, made in Hong Kong, following World War II, for sale to U.S. servicemen and officials as a souvenir. This board is noteworthy, in that it is a continuous 120-point board. The center peg hole panel is bounded by carved dragon figures, sporting black eyes. The underside of the board shows where in Hong Kong it was purchased. As is typical of these boards, the 6 original pegs (3 red, 3 white) are housed at one end of the board in a compartment with a screw type top. ...

Pavey Circular Wood Cribbage Board w/ Trump Indicator, c.1943

$45 USDPavey Circular Wood Cribbage Board w/ Trump Indicator, c.1943

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Pavey Circular
Circular wood cribbage board made by Pavey – circular in the sense that the peg streets run in a circle. The board itself is actually square, measuring 7.3” on each side. I believe that Pavey was a British manufacturer, but note that the board was patented here in the United States in 1943, and have adopted that year as the date of the board. There are Registration Nos. noted right on the board, different than its U.S. Patent No., that probably relate to patent protection – or something similar ...
Hand Carved Wood “Nova Scotia” Cribbage Board

$50 USDHand Carved Wood “Nova Scotia” Cribbage Board

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Hand Carved "Nova Scotia"
A hand carved cribbage board on what appears to be simple pine wood, depicting the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. It was sold to me as a “folk art” board. I am not sure what that means, but it is very charming in its simplicity. It measures 17.9” x 7.2”, and comes with 8 pegs – 4 blue and 4 red – that are made out of a balsa wood type of material and work well with the somewhat irregular size holes. Thanks for visiting.

As is typical of these boards, the 6 original pegs (3 red, 3 white) are housed at one end of the board in a compartment with a screw type top. $35 USD Sale PendingSALE PENDING E.S. Lowe’s “Crib Derby” Cribbage Board, Model No. 1502, c.1950s

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:Lowe "Crib Derby"
In the 1940s a company called “Crib Derby Company” made the first known “racetrack” type of cribbage board – a wooden, once around, oval, 121-point continuous board that imitated the look of a racetrack. Crib Derby Company was purchased in the late 1940s or 1950s by E.S. Lowe Co., Inc., and Lowe continued to make the same racetrack board out of hard plastic. This is the Lowe “Crib Derby” board, Model No. 1502. The board has all 9 of its custom metal pegs, and measures approximately 14” by 5.” It ...
SALE PENDING “Cuba” Hand Painted Cribbage Board, c.1920s (?)

$200 USD Sale PendingSALE PENDING “Cuba” Hand Painted Cribbage Board, c.1920s (?)

Collectibles:Cribbage Boards:"Cuba"
Extremely rare and extremely beautiful folding hand painted cribbage board, hinged at the center, with the coat of arms of Cuba painted on one side and the shield of that coat of arms on the other. The name “Cuba” is painted above the shield. The board is made of a very hard wood – perhaps native to Cuba – that is much like the olive wood used in Sorrento Ware items. I wish that I knew more about this board. I have never seen anything quite like it. I assume/speculate that it was made in Cuba ...
