Linen Centerpiece Doily with Embroidered Marigolds

This pre-World War II centerpiece doily is made of coarse natural linen. There is drawn-work decoration in a geometric design and set off with white thread. The embroidered sprays of marigolds are artfully placed in relation to the drawn work "maze." The edge is finished with buttonhole stitch and chain stitch. The doily measures 27" X 28," a great size to use as a dining room table centerpiece. This piece is in excellent condition. It is not a commercial piece, but rather the creation of a talented amateur needleworker of the time.
