These fun salt and pepper shakers are not marked but are probably Shawnee pottery from the 1950's. They match other Shawnee pieces in every respect. Each shaker is 5 1/4" tall and 2 3/4" in diameter. One shaker has four holes in the top; the other, five. There are openings in the bottom for filling; one still has its cork. The shakers are in perfect condition with no chips, cracks. stains, crazing, or other damage.

There is no company name on the back of this beautiful bowl, but the Beehive and Urn mark is from Ridgways, a well-known English pottery, and dates from between 1891 and 1920. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, or discoloration. It does have a few knife marks inside, but they are minor. The bowl is 9 3/4" in diameter and 1 3/4" deep. This bowl is lovely displayed on a bowl stand.

The pattern name of this plate seems to be "Countess." It is English porcelain from W. H. Grindley and dates from between 1891 and 1914. There is crazing on this plate both front and back, but there is no staining. The plate is in perfect condition; there is not even a scratch, and the gold is pristine. The plate measures 10" in diameter. The flow blue is an underglaze; the red decoration was applied above the glaze. The raised floral decoration shows prettily above the surface of the colors.

These fun pottery pieces date from the 1950's. Here in the Corn Belt (Illinois), corn pottery is avidly collected. These pieces are a set, both marked "Shawnee" on the bottom. The sugar is in perfect condition; the creamer has one tiny glaze chip (see photograph). The creamer is 5" tall and 4 1/2" in diameter; the creamer is 5" tall and 5" wide at the widest.

This flow blue soup plate or bowl is transfer-ware semi-porcelain from Woods & Sons, Burslem, Staffordshire, England. The pattern name, "Woodland," is on the back. The mark dates from between 1891 and 1907. This bowl is in good condition; it has some minor scratches in the bottom and was obviously used. The gold is intact and there are no stains or cracks. There are one or two tiny glaze chips on the rim. The bowl measures 8 3/4" in diameter and is 1 1/4" deep.

These 8 1/2" pottery plates date from the 1940's. They are probably Blue Ridge Pottery. Each plate is marked PV in a circle. The underglaze painting is clearly by hand with several colors. There is some crazing of the glaze but no chips, cracks, or stains. These plates don't seem to have ever been used. They would be charming on a plate rack in one's kitchen. There are two grape plates, one with plums, one with pears, and one with cherries.

This nineteenth-century flow blue plate from William Adams and Co., England is in the Oriental-looking "Fairy Villas" pattern. It measures 9" in diameter and is 3/4" thick. The particular mark used dates it as after 1891.

This semi-porcelain pottery covered vegetable bowl dates from between 1912 and 1923. It has no marks, but matches item #A-122, whose mark is from T. Rathbone and Co., Tunstall, Staffordshire, England. I have not yet identified the pattern. The design is a transfer underglaze in a rich, deep blue with gold accents. The gold is a bit worn. Both the lid and base are in excellent condition with no chips, scratches, hairlines, stains, or other damage. The bowl is 11" long, 8" wide, and 6" high.

This semi-porcelain 9" plate in the Leicester pattern is by Sampson Hancock & Sons, Stoke-on-Trent, of England. It dates circa 1906-1912. The plate is a deep cobalt blue in color with a bit of gold trim still remaining. The transfer design, as the name "flow blue" suggests, flowed in the firing and is blurry. The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, or discoloration. There are faint surface scratches on this plate because it was used.

This flat cake plate measures 11" in diameter and has a slightly raised rim. The pretty chintz floral design of purple, fuchsia, and white hydrangeas and green and brown foliage on a yellow ground is bit worn from use. The green edging is also a bit worn. This plate is older; the company, Barker Brothers, Ltd. of England, used this mark between 1937 and 1959. The pattern is from a group called "Royal Tudor Ware." The plate has no chips, cracks, pits, or stains, only signs of loving use.

This unusually shaped bowl measures 7" in diameter and is almost 4" deep. The sides are ridged. It has a majolica-type, shiny glaze that looks like paint spatters, hence the name spatter-ware. This bowl shows cones on the bottom, which is glazed. There are no marks. This bowl is probably by a Midwestern pottery maker; it was found in Chicago. There is a chip on the base but no other damage; the bowl rings like a bell. It is about 100-125 years old.
