$110 USD Offers ConsideredSALE "Man with Mallet" Ivory Figurine
Collectibles:Oriental:Figurines:Ivory
This old ivory piece from Japan is in the form of a plump kneeling man holding a raised mallet. He is grinning happily. The carving is good quality with nice detail, especially on the figure's face. The piece may or may not be a netsuke. There are figures carved on the bottom, possibly a signature. The figure is 2 1/4" tall, 1 1/8" wide, and 1" thick. The age is uncertain, but the ivory has darkened with age. It is definitely from before World War II.
