Understated yet charming, and the perfect size for shelf display, this Gottschalk Blue-Roof barn was made around 1900 and has the number "2496" (or 2498) penciled underneath. The 14.75" wide, 11.25" high and 7" deep barn is in excellent, sturdy, original condition, with no repairs or repaints. Most of the barn is painted: royal blue roof with black edges, grey & cream inside, cream on the outside back, orange hayloft door with black stripes, and peach with red stripes for the vertical posts. Lithographed Gottschalk papers cover the hayloft eave (has real straw inside), barn eaves and low outer walls. There are three wooden stalls for animals, with a hay trough and real hay, and a wider space for a wagon or staging area. Eight animals come with the barn. They are from different makers, but are all old, mostly of varnished composition with wooden legs, all in excellent original condition: 3-standing Cows (painted string tails), 1-laying-down Cow, 1-Bull, 1-Donkey (marked "Germany"), 1-Sheep, 1-Pig (celluloid). Three fowl are all impressed "Italy" and have painted metal feet: 1-Rooster, 1-Chicken, and 1-Duck. Very clean and charming from a non smoking home.
