Circa 1870s, this gorgeous cafe-au-lait spill-curl china shoulderhead doll is 16" tall attached in a gold-painted shadowbox frame. She has rosy cheeks, smiling mouth, watery-blue painted eyes with red & black lid lines, and eyebrows matching her hair. Her lower arms are bisque on a gusset-jointed kid body the doll has been in this frame for decades and we haven't removed her, but there is no evidence of sawdust leaking, head or body damage. The taffeta dress has a charming pink, blue and peach floral print trimmed with black velvet ribbon. Matching antique lace-hemmed petticoat & pantaloons are underneath, along with perfect vintage kid ankle-tie shoes and the remains of brown knit stockings. A faux-pearl necklace, stitched at the neckline of her dress to stay in place, finishes this wonderful package. As you know china dolls are unmarked. The frame measures 25" tall x 19.5" wide and 5" deep, with glass front, black velvet lining and hanging wire in back the frame is sturdy and solid with no damage. She's such a cheerful soul!!
