1880s French Fish Serving Set Silver Plate METAL BLANC

Functional beauty is inherent in this French Fish-Serving Set with large pierced knife and fork in silver plate with horn handles. The two pieces are in excellent condition, with hallmarks: (star) and oval with L // METAL BLANC inside. The serving knife measures 11.75 long and 2 at the widest point and the blade is honed slimmer on one edge; the fork is 10 long and 2.5 wide. These pieces look quite Persian with their horn handles (2 split in the back of the horn fork handle), and acanthus leaves attaching the upper intricately pierced silver plate. This set has many more years of use left; yet it is stunning just to regard for display.
