Sentimental and colorful, this
set of eleven vintage Christmas Postcards is in excellent condition.
Ten 3.5"x 5.5" cards have written messages; six cards have postmarks
between 1906 and 1920, one card has a stamp but not sent, three have
messages but no postage or postmarks, and one 3.75"x 5.75" was never
written or mailed. Details on each below. 5in" align="center">
1. French Hand-tinted Photo Card:
horizontal; "Stebbing Phot. (star)", little girl with clown and
Polichinelle dolls, postmark "Guingamp Cotes-Du-Nord // 12/30/(19)06"
2. Belsnickle with
Church in border: horizontal, embossed; "Printed in Germany No. 150",
"Cedar Falls Iowa // Dec 22 // 1909". 3. Russian Santa &
Church: horizontal, over-printed gold details; "EAS (in heart) //
Copyrighted M. Loewe... 1911", "Printed in Germany", "Courtenay N. Dak.
// Dec 24 // 1912" (also has Denver Co postmark as this card went to
three different addresses. 4. Smiling Santa in
frame of branches under Mistletoe: vertical, embossed; "©", "Series
230B", "Loman Minn. // Dec 22 1913" also "Oxford Nebr. // Dec 25 1913". 5. Little Boy with
horn in evergreen branches, over farm scene: vertical, "Made In
U.S.A.", "SB (superimposed in circle) C.S. 669", "Cadoosville Ill. //
Dec 23 1914". 6. Belsnickel outside
house, with border: vertical, embossed with silk hat; "Colorado
Springs Colo. // Dec 18 1920", Christmas Seal, and chubby child
sticker. 7. Belsnickle in
woods with church & holly branches: vertical, embossed with full red
silk coat; Ben Franklin one-cent stamp, no postmarks (meant for
Coalgate Okla. 8. Santa with a
lovely young woman: vertical, embossed; "Santa Claus Series 404", (no
stamp or postmark, from a lady in Muskogee Okla to Vida in Brazil
Ind. 9. Elfin Santa with
toys flowing out of his sack & child in bed: vertical, embossed;
hand-written "From Aunt Lizzie // Merle Dunn". 10. Portrait of Santa
& Little Girl: vertical, lightly embossed; "Copyright 1906 by H.I.
Robbins Boston", hand-written in pencil by a young boy to his mom or
sister. 11. Girl with Doll in
circle over pussy willows: this larger card is covered with acetate
sheets stapled at the corners. No marks or writing or postage. There are two more than shown in the pictures. These cards would be lovely
framed as a set, or gracing the mantle once a year.
