Exquisite china head lady with pierced
ears and fancy-coiffed molded black hair having the finest comb-marks
painted along each side of her face and curls piled on her forehead
(tiny rough 'beauty spot' on left cheek). Original cloth body and
china lower limbs with cupped hands and flat-soled black ankle boots
(left lower leg restored but hidden by pantaloons and gown). Her
china face is very well painted with lightly blushed cheeks; blue eyes
have fine red & black lid lines under single-stroke black brows. The
deep shoulder plate has three sew holes on each side. As you know china dolls never had any markings. This fine unmarked lady
has original cotton underwear of chemise, drawers & petticoat, all
with embroidered eyelet hems. The 1860-style gown was probably made in
the 1920s yet suits her beautifully: black taffeta with pinked
scalloped edges and dark pink trim. The big bow in back is half black
and half dark pink. The front of the gown has fading that essentially
adds interest.
