Gorgeous and shining in gold vermeil, this fruit or flower bowl by S. Kirk Son, Inc., American silversmiths, weighs in at 518 grams and measures 10” diameter by 5.25” high with a 31-1/2” Circumference at the widest point. The House of Kirk perfected the hand-chased sterling silver repouse technique; this bowl has a heavy gold vermeil finish. Around top rim and foot of pedestal are mold-cast applied shell and scroll borders. This bowl dates pre-1975, marked on bottom: “S Kirk Son Inc // Sterling // 42 // A”; there are no dents, rubs or damage beyond miniscule rubs off the underneath tips of feet. Pages from the 1975 catalogue showing item #42A, plus company history, are included. A beautiful, mint, center bowl for dining table or buffet.
