Huge brown glass sleep eyes accentuate the dear face of this 29.5" Handwerck/Halbig circa 1900 girl. Her perfect bisque head is incised "Germany // Heinrich Handwerck // Simon & Halbig // 6." with the "W." on her forehead ('wimpern' for mohair eye lashes). Beautiful creamy bisque is enhanced with flyaway brows, mohair upper lashes (mohair lashes over left eye are skimpy), finely painted lower lashes, pierced ears & dimpled chin, plump rosy cheeks and sweet open mouth with porcelain upper teeth. A beautiful newer honey-blond human hair wig has bouncy curls to her shoulders. The original composition body is in marvelous condition with the original paint and finish, only showing paint wear on fingers and ball-joints. Body stamped "Heinrich Handwerck // Germany // 6" (head size #6, body size #6). Ready for school, her cute cotton Mariner-style dress is medium-blue with a big white collar and midnight-blue taffeta bow; a midnight-blue velvet beret tops her curls. Underneath are newer matching lace & pink satin ribbon-trimmed petticoat and pantalets, cotton knit socks and cream leatherette ankle-tie shoes. What a precious child!! Very clean from a non smoking home.
