Published by Random House. This is a hardcovered 224 page book with a paper dustjacket measuring 12 1/4" x 9 1/4". It contains fifty of Foster's best songs for singing and playing with music, text and illustrations.

Some of the favorites songs include My Old Kentucky Home, Camptown Races, Oh! Susanna, Old Black Joe, Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair, Old Folks at Home, Massa's in de Cold Ground and more.

The illustrations, a frontispiece in four colors and forty-nine full page drawings in two colors are by William Sharp. Arranged for piano by Ray Lev and Dorothy Berliner Commins. Notes by John Tasker Howard reveal all the circumstances under which Foster lived and wrote.

The dustjacket has a few tears and an inscription in light fountain pen. Tops of the pages are green tint. The hardboard green front cover has a small stain and the front and back inside covers have some stains as well.

All the pages inside are in near perfect condition (one page does have a fold) and there is a full color picture of Stephen Foster inside on the book as well.
