It was written by a former reporter for the paper, who says that every time a newspaper dies, "the country moves a little closer to authoritarianism . . . and when a great one goes, . . .history is denied a devoted witness."
It is broken down into four eras: Part One: 1835-1900; Part Two: 1900-1941; Part Three: 1941-1958, and Part Four: 1958-1966.
If you like newspapers and history, this is one to add to your collection.
Also included are two original newspaper clippings talking about the end of the Grand Old Tribune (newspaper possibly the New York Daily News, author unknown) and the other by Dennis Duggan on Turning the last "Page" of the Trib as well as a original review by Frank Lombardi in his column, Stop the Presses in the NY Daily News.
In excellent condition having been glanced through but never really read. This is a great book for media buffs, nostaligic reading for newspaper folks. (I was working at the New York Daily News at the time the Trib closed its doors.)
