Submitted for your consideration is a porcelain figurine of a “Doctor” that was retired by Lladro in 1969. The talented artist, Salvador Furio, brought this wonderful rendition of an idealized physician to life and this work has inspired a number of variations on this piece. After 1969 this piece was issued with the doctor standing on a base and with his foot attached to that base. This freestanding version is the original, it is far more delicate and it is increasingly more difficult to find. Discontinued Lladro figurines continue to attract the interest of collectors and this one is certain to appeal on many levels. Please note how this talented artist has captured the intelligence and confidence inspiring presence of this practitioner of the healing arts. The doctor is quite tall as the figurine stands a full 15.5” in height. He has a serious expression on is face, as his stet scope dangles around his neck. His posture is slightly stoops, his attire is the traditional garb of a Doctor and behind him we see the ever-present wastepaper basket. We have seen this version of this figurine sell for over $1100.00, but thanks to a savvy purchase, we can offer him to you for $775.00.
