German China Porcelain “Seated Lady with a Mandolin” Figurine

Submitted for your consideration is a gorgeous porcelain figurine of a seated lady and her mandolin. The young woman is smartly attired in a fashionable dress with a bright orange top and a bottom potion that consists of intricate lace work and is decorated with multi-colored flowers. She sits upon a regal cobalt blue chair that is resting on a similarly colored base. Both the chair and the base are embellished with gilt highlights. Although I have not been able to identify the hallmark shown in the photographs, this has all the markings of a Dresden porcelain piece. Please note how beautifully the artist has depicted the young woman. The exquisite details such as the blossoms in her hair that accent those of her dress and the bouquet that she holds in her hand conspire to create a true vision of loveliness. This is a stunning work and it is in very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines or crazing and they only flaws are some loss of the lace that is typical of the age related condition of these delicate works. We acquired this piece at an Estate sale in a stately Westchester New York home that was filled with beautiful antiques. The figurine measures 7” by 6” by 6” and it can be purchased fro $450.00.
