Dedicated to Finding Value as well as Beauty!
Submitted for your consideration is an exquisite slag glass table lamp made by the Edward Miller Company in the late 19th century. Edward Miller was a perfectionist who always insisted on the highest quality for his lamps and his products are highly collected in today’s market. This is an exceptional example of the artistry of his creations.
This marvelous lamp has so many attributes that it is difficult to know where to begin in its description. Please note the clever use of the two tones of the slag glass. The bottom of each pane is a rich blue while the top portion is caramel shaded. The reason for this variation becomes obvious when the lamp is lit. The blue color becomes water while the lighter shade creates the image of an afternoon sky. The fretting on the lamp is magnificent. A serene Art Nouveau impression of a riverfront with gorgeous foliage surrounding a few man made structures. The lamp’s beauty is equal both when it is lit, and when it is not. The stylish base is the perfect complement to this superb utilitarian artwork.
The lamp measures 20” by 14.5” and it is in excellent condition with only some minor wear related to its age. While there are no chips or cracks to the glass panel, one of the clips that holds the slag glass in place should be replaced and for safety reasons the buyer may wish to have the lamp rewired. Miller lamps are often priced in the thousands of dollars but thank to a savvy purchase we can offer this extraordinary example of this renowned company’s work for $1750.00.
