Dedicated to Finding Value as well as Beauty!
Submitted for your consideration is a wonderful Seth Thomas Banjo clock that has two reverse glass painted decorations and a brass eagle finial. The name Seth Thomas is symbolic of value and excellence of craft, as a result of the variety of sophisticated styles it has produced since 1813. As the longest established clock maker in the United States (nearly 200 years), Seth Thomas is recognized as one of the most respected brands of clocks in the world.
This Banjo clock is circa 1929. It has a 30” mahogany case with beautiful reverse painted blue panels, a polished brass eagle finial and brass pendulum and side ornaments. Please note the patriotic theme of the painting, and indeed of the clock itself. The first panel shows a golden eagle perched on a gilt branch, a perfect complement to the artistically designed finial. The royal blue backdrop enhances the colors of the design on both panels. This would make a most impressive display piece on the wall of even the most elegant of homes.
The eight-day clock is in very good condition. The resting place for the finial has been disturbed, but the eagle does fit into the top opening. While the original pendulum is present, the key is not. This item would be easy for the buyer to replace and we can offer this gorgeous example of Americana for $750.00.
