Submitted for your consideration is a lovely pastel painting from the Victorian era entitled “Game Table”. A talented artist named Phillips, whose signature appears in the left hand bottom corner of the piece, created this beautiful work of art. Please note the way that he has captured the essence of the ingredients used to prepare a Victorian meal. A butcher-block table is adorned with two fresh game birds, as well as the vegetables that will serve as the accompaniment for this poultry feast.

The colors of this creation are amazingly vibrant given the work’s age. Rich tones of yellows, greens, reds and blues all combine to form a collage of inviting hues. The subjects are depicted in a naturalistic style that seems to invite the viewer into this period kitchen. The painting measures 27.5” by 13.75” and the framed work measures 33.5” by 19.75”. The pastel is in excellent condition, while the frame, that does not appear to be original to the work, is spotted with some paint and has some nicks as shown in the photographs. What an impressive presence this painting would make in any den or living room and we can offer it for $850.00.
