Submitted for your consideration is an endearing rendition of a beautiful young woman nurturing a magnificent peacock by the British artist Anthony Hawken. Anthony Hawken was born in London in 1948; he studied at Medway College of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools, where he won the Bronze Medal and was a Landseer Scholar. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors and the Royal Society of Arts. Hawken is noted for his portrait sculptures especially of great British sports figures. He created a monument to the great goalkeeper Sam Bartram at Charlton Athletic, and he has made many portrait busts, that include Melvyn Bragg, Anthony Worrall Thompson, Michael Mansfield QC, and many others.

Please note the exquisite features of this beautiful work. The woman is shown seated, and the bird has his feathers in full bloom. Hawken’s ability to depict what must be one of the most difficult images in the animal kingdom so well is a testament to his great skills. The bird’s plumage is shown in exceptional detail. The maiden is a picture of loveliness. What a wonderful addition this would make to any bronze collection, and how attractive a room accent would this statue make. The work measures 9.25” by 7” and it is 5” high. It is in excellent if not Mint condition. We can offer this superb sculpture for $750.00.
